After a slip

Had a drink? Log it without losing your history

In the SteadyChip iPhone app, logging a drink ends your current streak, but it doesn't wipe anything else. Your personal best, your total sober days, every day you've logged, and your journal notes all stay. There's no restart button under your day count. You tap “I'm being honest — I had a drink,” set how many, add a note if it helps, and check in again tomorrow. Your savings jar subtracts that day's drinks instead of resetting to zero.

Honest tracking, no lecture. The app just replies “Noted — no judgment.” Or use it in your browser.

Why a reset can feel worse than the drink

Many sobriety counters are a timer running from a single date, so a drink means resetting the date and watching the number drop to zero. Reviewers of one popular counter complained about a restart button placed right under their day count, called it discouraging, and asked for it to be moved into settings.

Many people in recovery talk about a slip as something to learn from, not proof that the days before it didn't count. A tracker should let you see both: the streak that ended and everything that came before it.

What SteadyChip keeps after a drink

Your personal best and your total sober days stay on the home screen. The day you had a drink shows in your history next to the sober days around it, so the record stays honest instead of erased.

Any note you write stays in your journal. Free users see the last 30 days of entries, and Pro keeps every entry. Your savings jar counts that day's drinks against the total rather than starting over.

If you forget to check in

The streak counts consecutive days you've checked in. If you miss a day, open History and fill it in: any of the last 35 days in the iPhone app, or 30 on the web. Otherwise the streak breaks even if you stayed sober.

Logged a day wrong? Tap it in History to change or delete the entry.

What SteadyChip doesn't do

  • Your current streak does restart after a logged drink. What stays is everything else.
  • It counts the days you check in. There's no way to enter a sobriety date from months or years ago — you can fill in missed days one at a time, up to 35 days back in the iPhone app (30 on the web).
  • It's built around alcohol: check-ins track sober days and drinks, not other substances or behaviors.
