A sobriety tracker that doesn't make you sign up
SteadyChip lets you track your sobriety without creating an account. Open the iPhone app, or steadychip.app/app in any browser, and check in. Your streak, history, and journal are saved on your device and work offline. You only need an email address if you choose to turn on sync, and sync is free. The one honest trade-off: SteadyChip doesn't back up data that lives only on your device, so turn on sync before you switch phones or clear your browser.
No profile, no full name, no setup quiz. Just today's check-in. Or use it in your browser.
Why forced sign-ups push people away
Being made to create an account is one of the most repeated complaints about sobriety apps. In the 1,256 low-star reviews we read in September 2026, dozens were about sign-up walls, login lockouts, or being required to use a full name or an Apple account just to count days.
For a lot of people, recovery is private. Some don't want their name attached to a sobriety app at all. Others just want to start counting tonight without a setup process.
What “no account” means in SteadyChip
Without an account, everything stays on the device you're using: check-ins, drink counts, notes, and your savings goal. Nothing is sent to SteadyChip's servers.
If you want your data on more than one device, or kept on a server, sign in with your email address. SteadyChip sends a one-time sign-in code, uses your email only for sign-in and account messages, and never shares it.
Before you switch phones
Data that lives only on your device isn't backed up by SteadyChip. If you've been tracking without an account, turn on sync on your old phone first, then sign in on the new one.
On the web, clearing your browser's site data removes local-only data the same way.
What SteadyChip doesn't do
- It counts the days you check in. There's no way to enter a sobriety date from months or years ago — you can fill in missed days one at a time, up to 35 days back in the iPhone app (30 on the web).
- Data on a device without sync isn't backed up by SteadyChip.
- It's built around alcohol: check-ins track sober days and drinks, not other substances or behaviors.
- It runs on iPhone and in any web browser. There's no app for other phones yet.
Common questions
- Is sync a paid feature?
- No. Sync is free. Pro adds features like trend charts and full journal history, and has nothing to do with whether your data syncs.
- How do I delete my data?
- Local-only data is removed when you delete the app or clear your browser's site data. If you've used sync, email [email protected] with the subject “Delete my account” and your data is removed within 30 days.
